Microsoft responds well to feedback and wants users to help make Windows a better product. This is what the Microsoft insider program is all about – allowing users to preview Windows features before they are fully released.

We took this as an opportunity to test the latest business features that have been designed to help teams work more efficiently.

Microsoft To-Do and Cortana integration

Microsoft To-Do is a great little app to help you manage, prioritise, and complete those important tasks you need to achieve each day.

It already integrates into Office 365 and now, with Cortana integration, you can save time while keeping organised. Cortana helps by adding reminders and tasks to your lists in Microsoft To-Do. Which can be done using your voice, computer or phone.

Faster sign-in to shared Windows 10 PC’s

For businesses with shared PC’s, Microsoft has introduced “fast sign-in,” to enable users to instantly sign into shared Windows 10 PC’s. This accelerated process helps workers save valuable time.

Remote Desktop using Biometrics

Users of Windows Hello for Business can soon use biometrics to log into remote desktop sessions – allowing facial and fingerprint recognition to speed up authentication.

This new feature will save remote workers having to enter passwords each time they sign in and improve security.

Windows Update notifications

Windows Updates can be time consuming and disruptive, especially when they install at the wrong time. However, updates are essential and ensure systems remain secure, reliable and feature rich. Microsoft have been listening to feedback and working hard to make them faster and minimize disturbance to users.

In the latest preview of Windows 10, a pause option can halt updates until you’re ready, and when an update requires a reboot, you’ll see an orange indicator in the start menu power button.

Enhanced Mode for Searching

A new search mode is also coming to Windows that will allow you to search all folders and drives, instead of just your documents, pictures, videos, and desktop.

You’ll be able to find all your files almost instantly when using Windows Search.

Cloud clipboard – If you’ve ever lost something you’ve copied, this new feature released in the October 2018 edition will help prevent that loss happening again.

Send texts from your computer – Did you know you can send texts directly from your computer? Currently this handy time saving tool works on Android phones.

Take a screen snip – By pressing Windows logo key + Shift + S you can click and select anything on your screen to take a screen shot.

Further information for upcoming Windows 10 features can be found on the Microsoft Windows 10 insider previews page.
